Polytechnic International manufactured and installed a new theme façade and environmental design to an existing recreation centre in an established, prominent position along the 'East Coast Parkway' in Singapore.

The design brief was to renovate, within a budget, a rather tired existing structure, built in 1980, to create a familiar, vibrant destination, forming the environment for food, recreation and entertainment activities. The solution was to create an electric historical 'village' drawing inspiration from various period buildings from Singapore's past that have long since been demolished.

The project required close consultation with the Client, his consultants and the Local Authorities. Elements such as a façade choice and composition, structural and servicing requirements, budget, material compliance, landscaping and environmental appropriateness were all synthesised to produce a workable and successful design.

The themed elements were fabricated in Australia, containerised and shipped to Singapore. 15 "40 foot" containers were needed to ship the required elements, which were installed on site under the guidance and supervision of one of our installation crews.

The final product is a successful marriage of new and old creating a vibrant and exciting environment, that forms the framework and setting for a wide range of recreational acitivies, while respecting parts of Singapore's lost history.
